Am I ruing my iphone battery doing this? i got a 3gb data plan so i tether my phone quite often. I had an iphone before and its battery was to the point i had to take my charger and charge it all the time. i got a new 3GS so im wondering if when my battery is 60%-95% and i then connect it to my laptop to tether is the battery cycle diminshing since i might use it plugged in my lappy for 5-15 mins just doing a quick look on the net. i read already that the battery is lithium ion or w\e so it is ok to charge even if its not dead cuz it doesnt have a "memory", but doesnt it have a limited amount of charges and if im only using my fone on my laptop for like 2-3 mins i feel like its a waste of battery cycles. |
The theory is it does have a limited number of battery cycles, but that's based on complete charges... so you SHOULDN'T be damaging your battery by recharging five times from 80% to 100% versus one charge from 0% to 100%. |
lithium ion charge cycle is 300~1000 times depending how you treat it and the quality of cell. It will be nice to re-calibrate lithium ion battery once in a while (total discharge and complete charge). 300~1000 charges meaning even if you re-charge completely everyday, your phone battery should still last more than 2 years. |
thanks for your input guys i guess well see wat happens in a few months |
i want an iphone as well but not sure bout the battery life and i dont want to charge it everyday |
