Just adopted a cat (2 yo). What next? My mom just called me saying she adopted a 2 yr old cat. It's an indoor cat and she has been told that the cat was potty trained. Now it's time to go shopping for tools and supplies. I wasnt prepared for the cat so I dun even know where to start. Any advice would be appreciated. |
Really I would start simple at first. two bowls, big litter box, dust free litter (there are natural ones that clump but don't have chemical dust), nail clippers, scratching post, brush. Then I would wait and see what things interest it before investing in toys or beds. I would however suggest for the first day or so put it in an area where it's close to the litter box, this way it does not go somewhere unwanted. |
What he said, and a laser pointer. When we first got our cat, she was still a kitten. Had to close her into a bathroom with food, water, and litter so that she wouldn't poop on the carpet in the corner again. As for anything else needed? Some cat food, try to stick with what the cat was given prior to being adopted. It's one less change for the cat. You can change that later on when said cat gets more comfortable. You may also wish to invest into a lint roller. Not for the cat, but for everyone else and everything the fur will get into. Best of luck! |
