Well you can't really say anything if you have never run one or tried one. I replaced my old JL 300/4 with a DD S4 and it was ridiculous how much more power and clarity the S4 had over the JL. I would stack it up against any 4 channel amplifier out there.

I might just do that. Any chance there'd be a bikini or wet T-shirt contest like in the 90's sound offs? LOL

As for competing, I swore to the family I'd never to do that again. Represented BC/AB in the IASCA Finals. Had my share of fun. Every sound off back then had bikini contests. It was like mandatory. I do miss it, though.

Hmmm, I will try putting that one past the wife. Any suggestions as to how to sell it to her?

My Faves:

Headunits - Clarion, Kenwood, Pioneer, Alpine, Eclipse, Denon, Nakamichi

The old stuff always seemed to be better. More about SQ rather than options. Market trends change. Nothing you can do. Now it's all about video and ipod integration. If that's the case, I'd say they all rank pretty closely now.

Amps - Focal, Genesis, Audison, Brax, TRU Technologies

These amps just have amazing SQ for the price. I've had a side by side comparison with the old Audison SRX2 vs JL 300/2. Half the size/price/power and the Audison still blew the JL away in every way. JL was a little louder but thats about it. Maybe I'm just picky but to me an amp is not just an amp. Plays a HUGE factor. You'll be surprised how much detail in the music you lose using certain brands.

Speakers - Focal, Morel, DynAudio, Audison.

I'm just very partial to these brands. They always make good sounding stuff for almost every price point. Best bang for the dollar to me is the Focal Polyglass. Still has a high price point but when compared to alot of the mainstream brands at the same price point it just sounds superior. Provided its installed correctly. I've seen some cars with them installed and found them very bright. Alot of people that install the Focal stuff don't realize just the angle and positioning of the tweeters play a huge factor in how it sounds.

I forgot about TRU Tech I ran a full SQ system off of them. Those amps sounded beautiful.
