And, I'm sorry, but it don't understand the extra rims attached to the sides of the car...I don't think there are spare tires in there, so what the hell is the point?

On the originals, those used to be where the actual spare tires would sit. Occasionally they'd be located hanging off the trunk (like many SUV's) as well.

that is where the word "continental" first got attached to cars.
If you had such an option on your car it was equipped with the "continental kit"
