stop feeding the troll please |
I think NBA could work with the high dollar, but they'll have to build up the fan base from scratch. Grizz were a PR disaster. OP needs to step out of Richmond. There's only 175K ppl there and 75K are Chinese. There was a 'huge' population before and that didn't save the team. |
Not a bball fan in anyway. Not even the sport itself. I would not bother watching or following it in any way. But that's me. I do believe the fanbase is big enough in Vancouver. But I wouldn't want a return of the Grizzlies only because I know it's a waste of time. As someone said, no one wants to play for a Canadian team. |

Anyways your right about no NBA team in the Pacific Northwest Region, so we'd have the market cornered there. We'd have people from BC, Washington, and Alberta coming to see the games. I dont see how a huge chinese population has anything to do with basketball, im pretty sure we had a huge chinese population 10 years ago when the Grizzlies were here and look what happened. Who cares about hockey? Say that to montreal and see wat response u'll get, Try Toronto, Calgary.... hell all of Canada and ull get the same response. For an NBA team to be successful here, they gotta ride the success of the Canucks. Of course theres pros and cons of having a team here but the success of the team is either hit or miss. The only thing i would like about it is that having another team would drive ticket prices to be lowered since Vancouverites would have another option for a sporting event. |
But basketball brings in more black people. |

HEY IM CHINESE & I PLAY FOOTBALL & WATCH NFL/NCAA FOOTBALL (sorry CFL just doesn't have the hype) & i watch all sports & i can tell u that the last thing we need is a NBA team in vancouver considering the fact that we can't afford it cuz vancouver doesn't even have the funds to for the important stuff for the ctiy already & don't forget all the unless crap money is going in to right now (u know the retractable dome, thats pretty useless u know we don't need that at all) |
hey I didn't mean to be offensive. I think I'll just move to Toronto... |

The NBA could have worked here if only Stu Jackson wasn't a dumbass. His moves were the single biggest reason why the Grizzlies sucked and lost a buncha fans and support. Do remember that during the Grizz, the Canucks weren't doing so well either. If in fact the product was better on the court, they could have stayed. The team did allt he right things, just the ownership support, management, and the league was non existent. The grizzlies did do one thing right, and that was to build basketball from the community out towards the game. |
Vancouver Titans anyone? |
canucks could use big country right now to stand in front of the net screening Antti Niemi and literally stay there for good |
woah guys, no need to fail. i wasn't suggesting Vancouver would be better off with an MLB team over the Canucks, i was saying if the city were to add another pro sports team, i'd rather it be a MLB team than another NBA team. of the canadian talent in MLB, a fair amount seems to come from BC. Vancouver has the only MLB affiliated minor league team in Canada. I also suspect there are a number of baseball fans in BC/Vancouver, they just don't have representation at the MLB level. i'm sure most of us would prefer to follow a local team than the Toronto Bluejays who have fans Canada-wide just because they're canadian or the closest team which is the american Seattle Mariners. im not saying a MLB team is viable right now either, just pointing out there is quite a bit of interest and talent in BC. |
Alright, had enough of this. Wave goodbye to the nice people. |
Vancouver will never, ever, get a MLB team. You need NFL type money to bring in a MLB team. And as for the NBA, I don't think you can rule out Vancouver as a possible relocation city. There was rumors that the Pacers were going to relocate last year to Vancouver. I think Vancouver would be able to fill the seats or enough seats for the ownership to be happy with plus I think whoever owns the team would be able to get enough corporate sponsors. It's all about making bucks at the end of day. |
I think a NBA team will work at first here but the real question is how long? The real issue is we would need a GM that knows what he's doing and not like what that fucken goof Stu did. I mean come on I'm white and you don't draft some white hick to base your team around. Fuck this is just making me mad OP you are a fucken idiot. |
