Double Din In-Dash Install Help: Kenwood DDX514 Hey guys, So I tried installing my own double din dvd deck the other day on my 2000 Toyota Celica GT. I purchased a Toyota wiring harness, connectors, an amp integration kit. I wired the Kenwood Harness to my Toyota wiring harness and it was direct plug in to the factory harness. I'm pretty sure I colour matched and go all the wiring codes correct except, there was an illumination wire (orange) and I plugged that into the harness as well. However when I look up the wiring codes on: http://www.modifiedlife.com/2000-toy...iring-diagram/ It says N/A. Anyways.. my problem is that there is power going to the deck and the deck starts up but there is not picture, or nothing coming up on the screen. The backlite of the screen is on, as you can see the screen glowing but there's no picture. Furthermore, I couldn't find a guide on how I use the amp integration harness.. I think it's also called the Scosche TA03 harness but I didn't see a factory amp in my car so there wasn't really anywhere to put it. Just wondering how I can make the screen post something.. I understand it could be all sorts of different things but if you guys could give me some ideas that would be great.. My cousin seems to think it's the battery or maybe the alternator not providing enough power for the head unit.. not too sure. Could it be one of my crimping connections that I made between the kenwood harness and my aftermarket toyota harness? If anyone can help me out that would be dope.. TY in advance! |
It sounds to me like there's no accessory power getting to the deck. |
Factory amplifier has the common toyota harnesses that the aftermarket kit will plug into. You have to locate the amp and extend the wiring.... it's been a few years since I've worked on one, but from my memory I would say that the amp is low in the dash, behind the shifter I believe?? Look for heat sinks, and three plugs going into it.. |
are you referring to seeing no image on the screen? ie: dvd? if that is the case there may be a vehicle safety that you have to bypass. most in dash dvd players had a safety feature so you couldn't watch the dvd while driving. i believe kenwood ones were one where it was hooked to the parking brake. check the manual and see if you have that wire hooked up. |
It works! So I was referring to the screen being actually on, but completely black.. However now it seems to be fully functional.. I didn't do anything these last few days but drive around with it turned off.. and then all of a sudden I decided to turn it on while stuck in traffic and it magically started. I have no idea what happened.. and I didn't change anything or play around with the wiring... Can anyone explain this? Should I get a new battery or something now? I'm kind of worried about it.. Either way.. it looks great and is working perfectly:haha:. It turns on everytime now  |
