S13 240SX Timing Chain/Water pump

How many labor hours would it be for these jobs?

Anyone had it done by a shop before; and around how much did it cost?

TIA

(that rattle is pissing me off)

car is a SOHC

water pump isn't a big job. the timing chain might just be the upper guide which isn't to bad but if you need the whole chain done then it's going to be more pricey. your in richmond so maybe try garage 5 or rise jdm

lol sohc. For the price of someone to do it, you could easily buy a DOHC engine and swap everything over.

yeah thats what im thinking now cuz my ka-e is running pretty smooth right now with alot of maint done, its just that rattle for 2 secs after start-up

You guys are pretty new to the 240sx. I've taken apart like 6 1/2 of these engines as well as helped with SR swaps.

The KA24E has issues that wont go away.

Your first thing to do is remove the upper timing chain guide, on both the soch and dohc. If it still 'ticks' its actually a head issue that cannot easily be fixed.

Why don't you google questions like this.

Cheers.

depends if you shop access
i did mine in the drive away in a few after noons,
it was my first one so i was a bit slower at it,

its true though i picked a dohc ka im going to replace it with,
but its defenitly doable with a few beers and some tool knowledge

We just did one at my shop in the winter, i think the total was around 1000$ but we also recommended a new timing cover because the chain had actually started to wear into the timing cover! I think without the cover it would have been around 750ish which isnt bad from a dealer.
