it doesnt account for cost of living. you could be making 5 bucks a year, but only costs u 2 bucks to live off of for that whole year.

It's not a real calculator. If you actually read the rest of the page you would get that it's to try to bring awareness to poor nations/people.

If you make $40k, that might below median for Canada... but as a Canadian you're ridiculously,ridiculously rich compared to the average person in the rest of the world.
