^ considering its a freshly rebuilt motor and you burned 1L of oil in 1k. That sounds like a problem to me even though you're using MAD VTAK all day long. |
well, that and there might be an oil leak.. im suspecting i need a new valve cover gasket. |

yep. but i replaced the valve cover after the build and reused the gasket. the intake mani looks a bit shiny lately.. ill take a look again tmmrw. |
vtec solenoid? |
I don't think a VTEC solenoid will result in a loss of 1L of motor oil. :p |
yea.. its a leak. lols. it doesnt spew that much out.. but a bit. gonna get it fixed when the weather gets better.. =X |
sorry if i missed it but, what car is this? |

There is increased oil consumption when you used forged pistons. They burn more during cold starts because of the rate of expansion when compared to stock cast pistons which have low expansion. Having said that i would do a leak down test both hot and cold and compare. At the same time i would inspect your plugs for signs of consumption to see if 1 cylinder is more fouled then the other.. and while the plugs are out i would inspect the condition of the cylinders with a bore scope to look for signs of scoring. It would have to be a pretty large leak to externally leak out 1L/1000km. |
drove another 700km in the last four days or so... oil level is same. and yes this involves high rpm vtec bursts too. i check the plugs and there isnt any fouling actually. |
