Did not run a red but...

So here's the story.

As I was heading eastbound on Broadway, I was making a right turn onto Rupert.
I had a yellow light that just turned red, and I got not one but two flashes.
I think the second flash came from the north and southbound intersection of Rupert?

I never crossed the intersection, so I don't understand why the flash happened.

Will I still get a present in the mail sometime soon? Or will they be able to decipher that its a glitch as I was making a right turn, and throw out the case?

Or will I have to dispute and tell them my story?

Don't quote me on this, but I believe it flashed because the sensors are before the light, and once the light turns red, and it senses a car blowing past it, it'll take a picture.

As for the ticket... I'm not so sure about. But if it does give you a ticket you can try disputing it if your right turn signal was on?
But however, you're supposed to come to a complete stop at a red light, then inching out to turn right.

I've had that happen more then once at a couple different intersections and I've never got a ticket because of it.

Harvey Specter 05-15-2010 12:10 AM

I've been flashed twice on Granville St and no tickets so it's a 50/50 chance.

FerrariEnzo 05-15-2010 12:43 AM

im pretty sure you wont..

if they officer or whoever that does these tickets, will most likely see that your making a right turn so, i think they wont...

UNLESS of course its a NO RIGHT TURN ON RED LIGHT?? was it?

fishing666 05-15-2010 01:08 AM

doesn't it take multiple digital photos then it is judged by an officer whether or not you commited the crime before they mail a violation ticket to ur face

TOPEC 05-15-2010 01:15 AM

no u will not get a ticket in ur situation.
it's 2 flashes cause the first one is for the picture of u entering the intersection while red, and the 2nd picture is for when ur past the intersection.
in ur case, the first pic would be of u entering the intersection, but the 2nd pic will not show ur car cause u took a right. they need 2 pics of u to prove u ran the red.

and those red light cameras r very sensitive, it gets triggered right when the light turns red and "senses" a car entering the intersection.

1) The camera flashes only after the light turns red and you cross the intersection.
2) When the light is red, you are still supposed to stop before making a right turn.

I always get a buncha flashes as a roll into a red to turn right on... kingsway somewhere, i think it's on royal oak...

i always try to time it so I can make awesomely bright flashes go off and people all stomp on their brakes and shit.

If you're turning right, that camera's in no-way aimed to get your plate..

happened to me too, but didnt get no tickets

I am aware that I am still supposed to stop and roll out, but as I said, it was still yellow and as I was making the right it turned red.

Nope, there is no such sign there

racerman88 05-15-2010 10:56 AM

even if you are turning, you still have to stop when light changes.
Not all cameras are operational. Maybe you got lucky.

tofu1413 05-15-2010 11:32 AM

happened to me before too...

i was running temp though.. no tickets.

but there's not enough evidence to prove that you didn't stop before (in theory the manufacturer of the system has to testify that you ran quick enough to trigger it so that it was impossible that you have had stopped right when the picture was taken)

so no ticket would be my guess.
