Help: Blackberry 8900 initialization failed or sim card error
 

Okay, so i have a bb 8900 originally from rogers then unlocked to use for fido, running os 5.0.0.411 (if that matters)

Scenario 1:
In the middle of a call, it will just die on me and say sim card error. After turning it off/on (sometimes just a power off or sometimes a battery pull) it will work fine again but sometimes it will say initialization failed.

Scenario 2:
On standby, it suddenly disconnects from the network and says initialization failed and i'll have to reset the phone again to get it to work.


The phone's behaviour is erratic, it works sometimes then it dies on me sometimes. I've tried taking out the sim card, blew some compressed air at the sim card reader, also replaced a different sim on a diff network, still the same.

Can anyone tell me what could be wrong with my phone? Thanks!
