floating world tattoo shop in richmond so im thinking about getting inked and i got a couple places in mind of getting it done at. so yeah im thinking about getting it at floating world.does anyone have any feedback on their tattoos (specifically on sams artwork)any feedback would be much appreciated |
floating world's a pretty good place to get inked at, my buddy got his koi's done there and it was pretty sick. I was thinking of going there or fatcity in new west. |
Also heard good things about Monkey King on Kingsway. |
3 of my friends got their tattoo's at floating world a few times, one buddy of mine got a tiger done and it looked pretty good |
First of all what type of work are you looking to get done? If it is just a small run of the mill piece that is easy to do then anyone can do it ie. Stars tribal names old English etc. But if you don't want to be a douche and get something super original with lots of detail etc then you gotta shop around, but if you are looking for the typical junk, just go for whomever you can find is the cheapest because all of them were trained on doing the shit work nobody else wanted to do in their respective shops, yo. I have heard good things about the Dutchman tho |
thanks for feedback guys.ive heard of dutchman and monkey king, but heard they have mad long waits. |
What kind/style of tattoo are you looking to get? I had a pinup tattoo done by Jory @ Funhouse Tattoos. Si Ed had two Asian art tattoos done there as well and we both would go back. |
all the girls i know go to floating world cause apparently the guy there aint a creeper lol all the guys i know including myself go to blackwater tattoos or monkey king, expect a 6 month waiting list though. well worth the wait IMO, a tatty is something you should not rush. if your the type thats in a rush and expects to get a big piece done within a few sessions. GOOD LUCK if you have already looked at a couple places i suggest you check out all their past work and portfolio and choose a style you feel comfortable with. |
Its your skin and its going to be permanent. If getting the job done right is important enough to you I'd be willing to travel and put down the extra bucks at a major name studio in the states or overseas. |

Jeff does not have a receptionist anymore. His wait is long, 6 months plus to get a call back from him. The deposit is usually $100, I believe. But he wouldn't even make you give him a deposit yet until you've had your consultation. TBH, the deposit's the LEAST of your worries. You should be more worried about what it is that you want to have done, and start putting together some inspirational photos of pieces that you'd like. Jeff will perfect your ideas for you. |
i got my first inked done on the day jesse fired his receptionist lol |
i call jeff few days ago and seems like he will to coverup/changing a piece i already have, jesse on the other hand will only do original piece. However jesse did tell me the wait is about 2 month and jeff didn't. the more i look at jeff's work the more i want my leg sleeve done by him however I'm not to sure about getting work done on my other piece now. If the wait is indeed 6 month i want to be on the waitlist to get the sleeve instead of wasting it on smallish work. Can anybody else recommend another traditional or neo japanese tattooist that doesn't mind working on some1 else's piece? |
