Dell XPS1530 charging problem

Hey so its been over a year that my laptop has been this way.. basically it dosnt charge. Is it my battery that is done or the motherboard?

in the beginning when it acted up.. my laptop would only charge upto 20% and then stop. currently its now at 0% and is plugged in the wall. There are times though where it made charge 1% a month.

has anyone else encountered a problem like this? is there anything i can do about it?

thankyou

How old is the laptop? Batteries are usually good for a year or less, with regular use. You probably need a new battery. One from Dell is around $175 or so. You can go to Dealextreme and get one for a quarter of the cost.

Hard to know whether it's the battery or the laptop, unless you have another similar laptop to test your battery in, or have a similar battery to test in your laptop.

My laptop is 2.5 years old but not too sure what the problem is, thats why i dont want to buy a battery just yet. Unfortunately i know of no one that has the same laptop has me.. so i cant really test my battery or laptop. But how the charging started to fail ... was really weird.... it was always on and off... then only charged to 20% for a good month. then stopped. i just want to know if anyone has had the same problem with their dell laptops

thanks

Yeah, sounds like most likely it's the battery, not the charging components.
