Autoglym HD Wax Beading Shots

Here's some beading shots from my wash today. I really like Autoglym's HD Wax - first wash in 3 weeks, one coat of wax. Car has stayed outside for the most part, garaged for a week when I was away. It's still glossy, and beading really well! Sorry I didn't get any shots of vertical surfaces, forgot and dried them before I went to grab the camera!

very very nice photos, u got a decent camera

HD wax is what? 40-45 bux plus taxes?

fairly expensive

roastpuff 05-21-2010 06:12 PM

$37 + taxes. It's not expensive... Swissvax is expensive. Or Raceglaze wax. HD Wax is good and cheap and easy to use.

care to explain how you applied it?

roastpuff 05-21-2010 09:44 PM

Uh, applied as normal? Wash car, rinse car, dry car, apply wax in thin coat, wait 1 hour, take wax off?

Just like any other car wax, no special technique needed. One of the easier products that I have used. :p

Spectre_Cdn 05-21-2010 09:53 PM

Did you apply by hand or with a polisher?

vash13 05-21-2010 10:13 PM

are you allowed to leave it on for an hour? I thought when you wax you leave it on only for a couple of minutes and wipe it off or did you just wax the whole car and wipe it off all together?

eFx[A2C] 05-21-2010 10:44 PM

That depends on the wax you are using, some can be left to cure longer before removal.

Let me start by saying NICE AVATAR!!!! All waxes have different drying times. Some recommend applying and removing one or two panels at a time. Some, like AG Hi Def and Rubbish Boys RBOE, you can leave on for awhile. I find the HD comes off easier the longer you leave it.

how durable is the HD wax??...i wash my car almost every few days....hence the reason i switched to autobalm....would this even compete with AB??

roastpuff 05-23-2010 12:48 PM

Pretty durable... I think in a wax-off competition it was one of the few remaining waxes after 6 months of outside exposure? AB is a sealant, can't really compare the two. AB will probably be more durable, but it doesn't look as good as HD Wax.

The nice thing about HD Wax is how easy it is to use compared to AB, which is finicky and can be a pain in the butt.

true on the diffrence on wax and sealant...lol...i wasn't thinking..haha
thanks.:)

that link is epic.

911fanatic 05-23-2010 03:48 PM

HD is supposed to be good for 6 months. Given that it has polymers which are good for shine as well as durability, I'd say its probably true. Given that you wash every couple days, I'd ad a second coat and you should be fine.

vash13 05-23-2010 03:50 PM

How does this one compare to the Next Gen Wax 2.0? I have a sapphire black car and wondering which wax would bring out the shine the best?

911fanatic 05-23-2010 04:46 PM

Sealants will bring out the shine more whereas waxes will give more depth and wetness. Is your next gen the paste wax or the liquid?

vash13 05-23-2010 05:29 PM

Liquid wax. Can you give some examples of Sealants?

roastpuff 05-23-2010 09:59 PM

Some examples of sealants: Hamber-Bilt Auto Balm, Werkstatt Acrylic Jett, Menzerna Powerlock, Klasse AIO, etc.
