Mugen EvOlutioN 05-23-2010 12:39 AM

tofu1413 05-23-2010 12:41 AM

well for sure the K series has way more aftermarket support / bigger tuning potential than the original C30/C32 motors..

kinda ballsy to do a swap like this actually

turb0fr3ak 05-23-2010 12:43 AM

Squeezing 700hp from a K20?!?!?

Peturbo 05-23-2010 04:35 PM

Very interesting. Awesome build.
I found it funny that for a guy that knows as much about hondas as he does, he didn't even know how to spell "V-tec"

if you have the k20z3 type - s 6-speed I-Vtech... your in good shape.

The k20 comes in many shapes and sizes... some with v-tech on only one cam...

The k20a2 / k20z1 / and k20z3 are really the only ones worth a shit...

When Honda launched the b-series... you could put a vtech head on any b-series motor handa made...

The k20a3 had clearence issues (accord/civic/crv)

the k20z3 is a HUGE motor to have laying around....

:lol

Toyota also replaced the 2JZ with the 3SGTE for use in the Japanese Super GT/JGTC Supras as well.

Then toward the end of its life I believe Supra also had V8s before being transplanted into the SC430.

Some interesting things about JGTC/SuperGT,

-The last ever race of the legendary McLaren F1 GT-R were the 2005 Team Take One/ Hitotsuyama Racing machines
-GT300 Impreza was the only 4WD car in all of JGTC/Super GT
-GT300 Legacy B4 is Front Engine/RWD + Turbo Boxer 4
-GT300 Celica was Front Engine/RWD
-GT300 IS350 is Mid Engine/RWD
-GT300 Corolla Axio is Mid Engine/RWD
-GT500 GT-R (R35) is using a 3.4L V8 (2009 was 4.5L V8)
-GT500 NSX used a 3.5L V6 making over 500PS
-GT500 HSV-010 is using a 3.4L V8 from Formula Nippon
-GT300 Mooncraft Shiden doesn't have a road car counterpart (It is a modified and rebranded Riley Technologies Daytona Prototype)
-GT500 machines can generate twice its own weight in downforce at around 200km/h
-Lamborghini Murciélago's first ever win in history was in GT300
McLaren F1 GT-R is still the only non Japanese car to win in GT500
GT500 are one of the fastest GT car in the world (2004 FIA GT-1 winner Team Goh Maserati MC12 Corsa falls behind 1-2 seconds every lap)
-Super GT accept entry of race cars from other series (DTM, FIA GT)
-GT300 machines are roughly the equivalent of GT-1
-When (racecar-engineering.com) asked Dome’s Hiroshi Yuchi whether the Dome-Honda NSX GT500 cars could lap faster than an Aston Martin DBR9 or a Corvetter C6-R his response was simple “easy”.
-There are plans to consolidate GranAM, DTM, and Super GT into a single series with unified regulations starting in 2012 and fully unite in 2015.
-In total over 18 manufacturers fielding over 24 different models of cars.
-In total there are 6 tire manufacturers
-Teams are allowed to swap any engines as long as it is made by the same manufacturer of the car.

k24's increase displacement which works well on drag strips... the torque and drivability decrease along with the redline capacity
