Simoniz right angle polisher- Thoughts? Hello everyone, I was wondering what are your thoughts about this product? It's selling for $79.99 at Canadian Tire. http://archive.meguiarsonline.com/fo...24-07_1333.jpg http://www.autopia.org/forum/attachm...niz-rotary.jpg It reminds me of a Makita polisher that i have used in the past (the design). I looked at the PorterCable 7424xp but picked this one up because of the price. If it does the job, then i might just keep it. If not, i'll consider picking up the PorterCable.. Thanks! |
it's a 2-speed polisher, it only range from 1100 - 1350 rpm which limited the kind of work you can done with. I would suggest get a Porter Cable or here's some alternative random orbital polisher other than PC7424 Meguiars G-110 http://autogeek.net/meguiars-dual-ac...sher-g110.html Griot's Garage 6" Random Orbital Polisher http://autogeek.net/griots-random-orbital-polisher.html better yet get a Makita / DeWalt polisher. http://www.canadiantire.ca/browse/pr...=1274847083992 |
I'll set a 7424 aside for you. I'm just saying......... |
The Makita is in a different league all together. For $80, I honestly would have spent a little more and invested that into a Porter Cable. I've been using a Makita from day one, but just picked up a Porter Cable as an addition (Thanks again for that Ken!) and have been very happy with it. I am going to be still using the Makita for paint correction and any thing that requires more power, but the PC is perfect for the final step polish. |
makita is MONEY!!!!!! |
So i returned the item. Prob going to save up a bit more money and pick up the 7424xp. Thanks for all the help. Now i am thinking if i should pick up the 7424xp Kit or just get the 7424xp, backing pad, 1 ornage and one green pad. |
Let me know what you want and I'll get you set up. :) |
1 pad is not enough to do your whole car. you will probably use orange, green and blue the most. |
Noted. Thanks for the info. I'll be getting some pads from a fellow RS'er and will be contacting 911fanatic about the PC. Just got to wait until the weather looks a bit better. |
yea..what they said PC is the way to go, anything u can buy right off the self like in C-tire is not as professional as it says, except for other products that can be used daily like interior wipes and stoner glass cleaner, wheel cleaner, tire foam, those are ok, but to some extent to products like polisher, absolute no |
awesoeme! |
Hey Ken, do you have those PC kits yet? |
Hello Everyone. I'd like to thank everyone for their advice especially Ken from Autowerkesexclusive. Here are the results from last days wash/ clay/ polish/ wax. http://www3.telus.net/willdathrill/IMG_0042.jpg http://www3.telus.net/willdathrill/IMG_0049.jpg Stuff i used: Meguiars Soap Meguiars Clay bar w/ Meguiars Quick detailer Portercable 7424xp w/ Green Lake Country Pad. Polished used was Menzerna S.I.P. Portercable 7424xp w/ Yellow Lake Country Pad. Sealant used was Menzerna Power Lock The Menzerna SIP got most of the light scratches out from regular washes, but the deeper ones were still there. *I think i need to drop by again Ken and pick up a cutting polish :)* The Portercable was very easy to use, especially when applying sealant. A few drops is all it took to spread the sealant all over my car. Very happy overall. I Will apply another few layers of Menzerna Power Lock when the weather gets a bit better. If anyone plans to pick up a PC. Call up Ken and get the PC KIT because that kit is all you'll need to get a great shine. :D Next up.....polishing the rims. |
damn that looks so clean... |
Glad it all worked out. We'll set you up with some Power Gloss for the deeper scratches. |
