I remember having the same assignment in school. I sent a letter along with one of the 2000 point plateau cards to Wayne Gretzky. A few weeks later I got the card back with it signed.

You'll be shocked how far hand written letters can go especially in this day and age when people just e-mail everything.

That is fucking cool.

I know you're probably joking. But there's actually a lot of people who do seriously count on other people's good nature to take advantage of, which in turn converts good natured people to skeptics.

Props to Nintendo.

Wonder how many of the other kids are damn jealous...

I don't know if my coworker is bsing me or not but he told me his friend do this all the time but instead of pretending like a 10 year old, he complains in his letters. Apparently from doing this, he got a lifetime supply of beer, cereal etc.

liu13 05-27-2010 02:30 AM

a lifetime supply of beer? wtf

7seven 05-27-2010 06:26 AM

We actually see a lot of these types of letters delivered to our production offices asking for pictures and autographs from kids, you'd be surprised how often they actually work.

You coworker is telling the truth, I had a buddy real down on luck and he went into his cupboard and wrote to every company in there complaining about the food/product. Low and behold a month or two later he ended up getting free gift certificates new products everything you can think of. He did that for 6 months until he could get back on his feet again and it worked perfect.

The funny kicker is some of the company sent back prepaid envelopes he used to send letter to his family with LOL

^ :lol pretty crazy story. I guess a good old letter snail mailed could go a long way. I wonder how many people send emails and get stuff vs sending regular mail

tats pretty crazy, talk about customer service at its best eh

murd0c 05-27-2010 08:25 AM

The only thing I have ever done was straight up legit. I was eating a hotrod pep stick and bite down and chiped a molar on a piece of bone. Well I sent a letter and complained of course since I was mad and they ended up paying my dentil bill gas/time and sent me $50 in gift certificates for any product they sell. I will still pissed but happy it was dealt with.

I'm kinda tempted to send a letter to bunch of companys just to see it for the hell of it. it doesn't hurt them at all they just make more sales in the long run for making the customer satisified.

what the kid can afford to buy a 8 core mac pro, and an imac, but can't afford to pay for the full cost of final cut 2??

Props to apple for sending him final cut. Maybe I should write to adobe and get CS5/LR3.
