The ipod touch that they give away is a 8gb, if u got the one last year they made no changes from the previous 8gb ipod touch to the current gen. only the 32gb and 64gb got the faster processer. But yeah pretty sure the new ones are gonna have a camera.

As for the macbooks and macbook pro line, new pros just came out couple weeks ago and current gen macbooks came out in the fall, with a few minor adjustments a couple weeks ago as well. I'd say its okay to buy now.

If you've never used a MBP before, the fact is it does some things the PC side would never have thought of in a million years and it does them extremely well. That's why ppl like them. Its specs may be lacking, but it's not as slow as you think cuz you can't compare OSX to Windows.

That said, it doesn't try to be a PC at all. If you have both, you get the best of both worlds. IMO, PC desktop + MBP laptop is the best combo. No need to be jealous or feel threatened. It's only a fuckin computer. They both work fine.

care to share what it does what a pc cant do?

hardware has a better screen(new anti-glares), stylish i guess?(join the hive mind), battery life, build quality.

every time i install OSX on my laptop (osx86) i end up uninstalling it after a couple weeks feeling so limited and pushed to do things a certain way. my gf also has a macbook pro 13inch... and i cant stand OSX for the life of me..

price is definately overpriced by at least 200-300dollars.... look at the dell studio 14, 15+.... spec them to match the mac counterparts.

large trackpad + multitouch (2, 3, 4 finger swipe) + expose + spaces makes life so much easier when working on a laptop - i don't miss my mouse at all. Performance doesn't bog down when I have 6 spaces worth of apps open.

I never shutdown or reboot. I want to use it, I open the lid and it's on. When I'm done, I close the lid - day after day.

iLife SW package is great in its own way. iWorks seems to be the same, but I just DL'ed it yesterday cuz I needed to draw something up quick. It gave me what I needed with little effort, so it's a great option to have.

OSX without the Apple trackpad is a waste.

Overall, I like it cuz it helps me get things done. No fuss, no muss. My old ThinkPad was great, this is better. Sure it's got limitations, but so does my PC. They really do focus on different things.

I was considering the XPS/Studio lines at the time. MBP with a student discount + free iPod Touch made it an interesting choice.
