Property Administratory/Management
 

Im in school right now as a business student. I lack the experience necessary to get into this field. If people can share relevant experiences and shed some insight on what a property administrator/ manager does it would be appreciated. Also, I was wondering how I would be able to get my foot on the door. I figure it could be a good job as I attend school. Im not sure how pay works and assume is salary?

If you want to work as a property manager/admin most companies require full time (unless. You get co-ops or contracts). My office is a real estate brokerage and property management so I'm only basing what I see and my small knowledge for the management side. Usually how the peeps get in start off as receptionist first then gradually gets promoted. However, you do need to be licensed to become one so my office will pay for thw tuition fees (to get your license) if you pass.

Basically what a leasing department does is it handles peoples suites that are for rent. Property management takes care of advertising, all contracts and finding tenants and all maintenance required such as repairs. In our office we have 2 managers which are obvs paid more (and you'll have to pay your dues to get this position) and the rest are assistants. From what I know most companies do salary. Prepare to interact with all walks of life and attitudes because you are representing your clients to rent their suites out.

Working in a property management firm can be quite stressful depending on what you do.

I work in operations and waiting on exam results where I start off as a junior property manager. It is not fun as 7/10 calls are mostly complaints.

But there are many sorts of property management such as rental/commercial and residential.
