turbo help Hi i am looking into a Garrett GT2560R and was wondering if this would be a good choice as an upgrade to the stock sr20det turbo... thanks... |
It would be a good upgrade for sure. Ball bearings, very quick spool and should be good to around 300 horse. I think the GT2560R (aka the GT28R) is what came on the newer Silvias. |
okay thank you for your help. Just still looking into buying one right now.. |
PM Akira@rise we might even have a good used one in stock and if memory serves correct (he would know for sure) it should be good to over 300whp (with other mods) on that motor with little lag. |
okay so this turbo would be able to put out say close to 300? |
The turbo should handle it but you'll obviously need some more mods (injectors, fuel pump and software) to match the performance. You're not going to get 300 hp by just bolting the bigger snail on. |

yeah no i understand that, and ive found a bran new 2560 /used but its still in the box.. thats why im going with that turbo.. |

this is the turbo i am looking into getting does this look alright to you guys? It Just looks like the inside wheel is bent or something... http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e5...edge/turbo.jpg |
Are they all the same "bent" shape? If some fins look different than the other fins then thats a no no. Also pull the shaft back and forth and see if it moves, also wiggle it around and see if it moves. Are there grooves in the housing from the fins touching it? If its new in the box it should have no sign's of wear. Berz out. |
that wheel looks busted up. |
Thats fucked I'd suspect to much end play. It should be repairable and should not be run in its current condition. |
thanks guy for your info, this was actually a different guy who posted me pics on a gt2871r.. this is not the brand new one (gt2560) I also think something is wrong that dosent look right... |
Probably why it wasn't in the car! Definately doesn't look quite right. |
