Hybrid: SSD + HDD = Momentus XT

Boot times are between the 2 types of storage, prices seems alright.
though 150 for 4 GB of SSD and the rest disk does seem a bit much for $150.

I just read up on this... Seems only good as a comprise for notebooks where one drive is possible.

hah I attended the online conference for the thing and it did catch my eye. Most load times speed up quite a bit with gradual use, albeit still lacking compared to SSD but that's understandable.

Seems like a pretty good deal.

I think I might snag this up when the prices get lower. Right now I only have a 250GB 5400RPM drive in my laptop. I don't have a desktop, so I use an external HD as storage. However, this is enticing since it has the speed benefits of a SSD (albeit not as fast) with the storage of a standard conventional hard drive.

It doesn't really have any benefits of an SSD drive.

The way SSD prices are drooping and capacities are going up this type of drive will be pointless in less than 2 years.

What has me kind of interested is Hitachi's SSD DVD drive combo that's coming out.
