Richmond Night Market 2010

Anyone been to RNM yet? What's new at the food joint this yr? Any recommendation?

king_2011 06-04-2010 12:23 AM

pretty much the same as last year, nothing relli special and plus food prices there are so jacked up. Can easily spend $15+ just snacking there.

i went last week... had a beef brisket noodle .... damn was it good. .and it was so filling for $3.50... i would definately get one again !!!

Jsunu 06-04-2010 10:26 AM

went last week, changed the layout, made the food area wider but still just as busy

CRiXy 06-15-2010 12:25 PM

I think this year's layout is way better. Less empty spaces and more stuff to look at. Abundance in food stands is making competition more fierce and forcing food quality to improve :)

more like $20 + per person easily

yeah.. $1.50 for a bottle of water and $2 for pop? I thought last year it was only $1 and $1.50 respectively.

Biggest lineups at the Hurricane Fries stands.

Tried the blooming onion at one of the stands. I remembered seeing it on tv a while ago and had to try it and it was really good! Came with 3 different dipping sauces.

i read on the paper that they have a deep fried ice cream but don't know which stall was

satek 06-15-2010 08:49 PM

One of the booths were selling bbq ice cream. I was all like WTFFF. Lamb skewers were good though.

yea, should have gotten the pop @ McD before heading into night market.

I'll rememeber that next time.

Aren't there 2 night markets now?

One at Queensborough and the other at the old place in the Cathay shipping yard?

ASG111 06-25-2010 11:55 PM

usually when ppl say nightmarket, they mean the one at richmond, which is at the Cathay shipping yard

The deep fried icecream kinda sucked. It is a large ball of icecream wrapped in those pastry skin (meant for deep fried wontons). The ball of icecream is put onto a bowl with whipping cream then drizzled with chocolate syrup.

I was expecting batter to cover the icecream rather than that deepfried wonton skin.

The tornado potato is pretty good. There's 2 stalls - a korean stall near the end of the food section and a japanese stall in the middle. The japanese stall is where there's line up and probably taste better. I had the korean stall and i was impressed with it.
