Speed up/Optimize Lightroom http://www.oreillynet.com/digitalmed..._lightroo.html With me being on a slower computer, using some of these tips are helpful. I found that by increasing my RAW Cache, it's performing a lot better too when going back and forth photos in my catalog. Setting it at or above 20gb is ideal. |
Useful tips. Even on my new iMac, Lightroom takes 40 seconds to open! |
great link thx for sharing |

Try buying a cheap SSD (30GB) and run your catalog from there. I have swapped my imac HDD with SSD, and everything is loaded within 5sec after I press it. For people who have a huge catalog, invest in a SSD, you won't look back once you try it. |

Perhaps the location of your files is on drive that's "sleeping"? |
I have 100,000+ images...doesn't feel too slow, but there is a huge difference (obviously) rendering my 5DmkII 21MP RAW files vs. my 6MP Minolta 7D RAW & 12MP Sony A700 RAW files. |
Lets compare who has the biggest LR catalog file.. 400,000kb .. I win! |
Isn't 400,000kb = 400MB? ..or is my math wrong? I need to sleep...... :p |
