Guess it depends somewhat on the circles you travel in. Most of my close friends are huge fans of the original Highlander and universally despise the sequels, but outside of that, the bulk of people I run into have never seen it, and most of those haven't even heard of it. Most are familiar with the TV show, but never realized that it was based on a 25-year-old movie. So by that token, it might be considered "hidden".

I wouldn't call Shawshank Remption a hidden gem. One of the best films of the past decade for sure.

- Here's a few, Running Scared (action)
- The Lookout
- 500 Days of Summer
- Little Miss Sunshine
- Shattered

Fubar

I love this movie it's hilarious.

If I have five words left and I'm about to fuckin' expire and all I have left to say is to curse fuckin' Tron, I'm probably not going to say, "Tron funkin' blow."

Running Scared: Movie was never released in theaters only on dvd which I consider this a underrated movie

Since ninjavideo got shut down, I managed to find the links to the whole movie on youtube.

Off the top of my head, some may not really be hidden but most are not really blockbusters:

Amores Perros. (better than 21 grams IMO, which is also good).

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

Gomorrah.

Un Prophete.

The Salton Sea.

Hoop Dreams. (great docu.)

The House of Sand and Fog.

Requiem for a Dream.

The 3 Burials of Melquiades Estrada.

In America.

Oldboy.

Once. (for a chick flick)

might have been popular in the 90's but no one I've talked to seems to have seen it.

the book is even better. it's supposedly based on a true story, too

Really good if you're into Fight Club and Swordfish type of plot movies.
