BTW, does your manual say use premium? If not, you don't really need it. High octane is needed if you experience engine knock or pinging. You need it if you tow stuff or if your car has been modified.

Take my truck, for example. I used 89 for a while. Each time I took the freeway on-ramp and floored it, it backfired. I go with 91 and backfire is gone, and I noticed an overall performance increase. Cars nowadays have computers and sensors that compensate timing for a range of conditions. As long as you stay within that range, no problem. People say premium is a waste of money and for the most part, it is. It all depends on your driving habits and what has been done to the engine. If you do not experience problems, save the money and go with mid grade.

I have no owners manual so i have no idea, i did fill up a tank of 89 last night, so far i hear no knocking, i cant tell if its slower, maybe it could be a slight bit slower.. car is an is300 btw..

if you own a is300 you should be using premium

Your 2JZ-GE will require minimum 90 octane. Try not to (in fact, don't) fill it up with 89.

yea i geuss ill have to get 91 next time, damn gas prices better not go up this summer... hmm shell has 90 octane right? i dont remember seeing any 90 octane at chevron were i always go... also does shell still not have that 10% lethanol crap in it?

yeah well some people drive far out of the city to work which easily adds up to around 400 bucks a month and it would be nice to save maybe half of tank of gas a month or something.. but i geuss thats not going to happen, o well.. and i aint going back to that FWD bullshit.. that shts no fun ill stick with the is300..

There are a lot of people who drive far for work. You are no exception. A majority of these people drive economy cars which are generally FWD. You made the choice in getting an IS300; a 3.0L high compression inline-6 RWD motor. Fun comes at a cost and you have to pay for it.

On the serious side, no. Cold Air Intake alone does very little. The car's computer will compensate for what little gains you get from a CAI.

I was referring more to mods like forced induction (turbo, supercharger), nitrous, etc.

If you combine headers and an exhaust system along with a CAI, then you might benefit from higher octane gas. It all depends on the setup and if you experience engine knock. Even if you don't experience knock, you might benefit, if the computer is compensating a lot due to whatever changes.

whats the difference? you can get a used is300 for so much cheaper than a 06-up civic. is300 are cheap nowadays.

true but any premium badge comes with a price to pay. whether its maintenance or gas bill, expect it more than a tercel/echo/civic

dont expect lexus break pads to be $60 bux plus taxes, just aint gonna happen

there's actually a decal on the inside of teh gas door taht says "premium fuel only"...

the car requires 91+ fuel...
