GeForce 7600 GT VS. ATI Radeon™ HD 4650 Hey guys, I have a new computer that came with ATI Radeon HD 4650 PCIE 1024MB Video Card. However I have a old BFG NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT OC 256MB PCIe. I know these are just entry level cards but any suggestions as to what is better? The games I play are COD and SC2 (when its back out :() BFG: http://www.bfgtech.com/bfgr76256gtoce.aspx ATI: http://www.diamondmm.com/product_pri...oduct=4650PE1G Thanks! |
The HD4650 without a doubt. |
The 7600 GT is completely useless ... The HD 4650 is not only a lot faster, but also supports HD video acceleration, HDMI output, consumes less power, makes less noise, puts out less heat, and has better driver support. |
256mb vs 1024mb dedicated memory. obviously the 1024mb 4650 is better. |
go for the ati |
yeah the main thing i saw was the way bigger amount of dedicated memory, but what threw me off was the memorcy clock and memory bandwidth BFG: Memory Clock 1450MHz (vs. 1400MHz standard) Memory Bandwidth 23.2GB/sec. ATI: Memory Clock : 800 MHz Memory Bandwidth : 8 GB/sec haha anyway, thanks everyone |
i picked up a 7900GT for my parents @ FS for 20bucks... it wasnt bad and performed. I have an asus EAH4650 at work and it performs reasonably well and it has an huge heat sink.. it does not use external power which the 7900GT had. |

The 4650 should use a 128-bit bus which, at 800 MHz, would give a Memory bandwidth of: 800*(128/8) = 12800 MB/s (12.8 GB/s) Even if, for some bizarre reason, the manufacturer opted to use a 64-bit memory bus, the memory bandwidth would be: 800*(64/8) = 6400 MB/s (6.4 GB/s) 8 GB/s w/ 800 MHz memory would be impossible ... |
