What if Torres and Fabregas were healthy as well? Germany played to defensively and heavily relied on the counter attack.

Oh fucking Spaniards. How big of a dick do you have to be to do a sub with 30 seconds of extra time remaining. Or the goalie just letting the ball sit there. I mean of course i would be all for that if Germany winning but you know.
Fucking Spaniards. Hope Nederland demolishes them.

We have 33 people in the pool at $10 per head. Our managers actually haven't decided how the prize money will be divided, but I'm sure there will be some for 2nd and perhaps 3rd place.

I'm tied for 3rd with a bunch of others right now and there's no chance of me winning first place since I picked Argentina and England to compete in the 3rd place match. However, if Wes Sneijder comes through and scores in the final game, I may end up with some money for 3rd place. I picked Spain to win, however, so my ideal outcome is for Spain to win by shootout (say 1-1) with Sneijder scoring for the Dutch.

Good Job Spain  poor Germany

Harvey Specter 07-07-2010 06:52 PM

I'm going with Spain as the winners come Sunday but I think it'll be a tight game.

avinayyar 07-07-2010 07:56 PM

Definitely a tight game, but Spain all the way!!

Yea it wasn't the same as their other games, there was one point in the game where they really tried to push the game to Spain's side but that didn't last for long

edit* also, sucks that Pedro didn't pass to Torres near the end, game could have ended up being 2-0

City is swept up with World Cup fever

Almost all the stores have nothing in terms of Spain or Netherlands merchandise.

lol if anyone bought those orange down feather Holland Heineken House jackets, Now would be a good time to wear them =P

Harvey Specter 07-07-2010 08:56 PM

My parents flew out of Amsterdam yesterday and they said the entire airport was at a standstill, when they won the entire airport erupted. When I went to go pick them up at the airport, there were all these dutch people waiting around for rides and cabs wearing orange and going nuts. Man, I bet they must have partied hard last night lol.

hal0g0dv2 07-07-2010 08:57 PM

pretty solid final

Thank goodness David Villa didn't score. My golden boot pick is Wes Sneijder, and guess who is up there with Villa? That's right - Sneijder.

And I made my picks based on reading a primer in 24 Hours a day before the tourney.

Yeah, same here... I really don't know shit about soccer... but for my office pool, just looked up the FIFA rankings and based my picks off of there... and threw in a few upsets... and ended up with Netherlands vs Spain final as well.

Senna4ever 07-07-2010 10:54 PM

As a fan, my World Cup ended with the elimination of Brazil (a sad, sad day) but I had Spain forced upon me in the office pool, so I guess I root for Spain!

sas 07-07-2010 11:36 PM

I wanted Torres to score so bad, thought for sure the pass was coming. That goal for Torres might have been the one to ignite him and give him a boost of confidence.
