My opinion:

This will only do more harm than good. It only promotes Jay walking now that the streets are safer in that area.

Nothing really pisses me off more as a motorist other than pedestrians who crosses streets regardless of traffic under the obligation that motorists must always yield, regardless of right of way. It should be legal to hit these people.

Nice, they'll make that a 30 zone and post a cop with a laser there full time tagging people. Genius way to generate revenue! Helps there's a police station on one of those corners as well.

It's already slow enough as it is.

That isn't to say that I don't jaywalk sometimes. I do. But I don't expect cars to slow down for me because I'm on foot. I'm aware I'm doing something I shouldn't and it's my job to avoid them...not the other way around.

For me to get Downtown I have to drive through Hastings (there are other alternatives but this is the shortest route).

I'm sure that missing $35,000 will buy a lot of crack and heroine.

Is there a reason why such a "research" isn't done by in independent third party? It's like the hippie mayor WANTS such a report. The next thing u know all cars have to yield to cyclists and crackwhores.

What they should have done is spent the money to put up fences along that street, and have gates at the intersections that only open in the direction you are currently allowed to cross.

I drove down there a few weeks back and as I was leaving my hotel my GPS took me down Hastings and holy shit, I've never seen so many wacked out/scuzzy looking people in my life.

Well they better, they just gave 100k to a group with DRUG USERS in their name. :haha:
