Food unique to Vancouver?

So I have some relatives in town (from TW) and they wanted to try food available only in Vancouver or Canada. I couldn't really come up with a good answer. Any suggestions? Open to pretty much anything.

Vancouver is a melting pot of tons of cuisines, there is no unique Food Identity.

Perhaps Japadog? Pretty sure you can't get that outside of Vancouver.

Seafood, and lots of it. Granville Island is a good start. Smoked salmon, fish & chips, bigass lobsters and prawns, etc.

Oh HELL no. If my relatives brought me to the Keg the day I landed in Vancouver telling me that was the standard for fine dining I would have moved the fuck back to Taiwan.

Couple places I would say it's good in vancouver

1st) granville island there's a fish and chips place therre and its awesome, the batter is tops(near keg)

2nd) Joey's on broadway, very very good

3rd) Burgoo on main and 15th - great soup/salad/sandwiches and the ratatoie(sp) is a must try

4th) richmond - Italian tomato on bridgeport and no 3 surprising good pasta for a good price.

5th) go to a local grocery store make something from fresh bc products

Hope that helps

I wouldn't say there's much food unique to Vancouver but we do have our own style for many different kinds of foods.

I'd take them to Dim Sum. You're gonna be like "They can eat that in Taiwan". I find that the Dim Sum in Vancouver taste better than the stuff back in Asia. Maybe it's because most of the chefs immigrated to Canada.

Oh yeah, don't try so hard to "Impress" them when it comes to eating out. As long as the food taste great it doesn't matter. Just think about what Taiwan doesn't offer and go from there. Like many have said, you can go have fish and chips/seafood at Granville Island.
