That was a very classy response from Porsche but I don't think this is a publicity stunt.. It feels more like a friendly grudge between old co-workers. Here's Mini's clever response. |

Brilliance. We're all talking about it, hoping it will happen (even though we know the outcome). You can't pay for this kind of advertising. Great response by Porsche, too. |

First of all, being FWD automatically precludes the POS Mini from qualifying from any "best handling car" awards. It might give a Civic Type R a run for its money but it is nowhere in the realm of proper RWD sports cars like a 911. The one thing the Mini has an advantage on is its short wheelbase, which gives it an advantage in tight competitive events such an autocross where grocery-getters like Hondas and M3s tend to excel at. Nevertheless, a Lotus Elise will still run rings around a Mini in this type of event. As for the ex-CEO, Wiedelin Wiedeking almost destroying Porsche, that is a load of nonsense. He is widely credited for making Porsche the most profitable automaker in the world through his solid management strategies. Yes, Porsche makes the most profit / vehicle sold even after removing their investment income. The only fuck up was when Porsche tried to acquire VW, which resulted in a reverse takeover. Us 911 owners don't care about where VW takes any vehicle in the Porsche lineup except for the 911 and we know that VW is not going to do anything to change the basic concept of the 911. The 911 will still always be a Porsche first and foremost. |

^that is fantastic  |
LOL ROCKY!!! |
So Hyundai came out now and challenged Mini to a race... Lets see how they respond.. They pretty much turned the tables on them. If they dont accept they are no better then Porsche. If they do and they win people will just say "oh well it was just a Hyundai"... If they do and they lose they will look bad... Mini should have really quit while they were ahead.. |

[QUOTE=penner2k;6996994If they dont accept they are no better then Porsche.[/QUOTE] Care to elaborate? Where did Porsche go wrong in any of this? |
Porsche will always have its Top Dog status, mini = the underdog. Hopefully we see an upset cuz those cooper S's are pretty fun to drive. Mini needs to hire THE STIG :D Some say he is actually trolling this fourm but all we know is hes called the STIG |
as some people speculated, the track is like a go-kart sized track http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._4530490_n.jpg |

i love the statement at the end $38,000 per second.. lol i assume they are both running stock as well? |
Landslide win by Porsche on a "go-kart" track. I can only imagine what would happen in a "fair" contest. |
the track is a fucking joke. |
Here is what I think Porsche should do... I think there has been a video of some 10 year old drifting a Porsche a while back..... Take that kid. Take the Porsche that Mini used. Take a Mini with a pro driver. Now send them around the Ring. Video tape the whole thing and post the results after. Dont make any comments. Just post the video. |
