tire width front vs rear vs car stability

How much is a FR layout car's balance (cornering and such) affected when running significantly wider tires in the rear than in the front assuming the rim diameter and tire height are identical?

it depends

Generally speaking, if the car is all stock, the wider rear tire will make the car understeer while cornering.

But what exactly are we talking about?
What car?
Mods?
Rim widths and tire widths?

was the car originally staggered? if so, measure the tire contact patch area right now on the front and rear and create a ratio, if you're going wider, then retain the same ratio.

stock supra tire size is, what, 225/55-16?

cram the biggest tires you can under the fenders, 255 front, 285 rear.

who cares if it handles like poo, it looks good :)

hahaha

me my self i not to big of fan on heavy staggered cars that weren't meant to be staggered with in the first place

i run a 235 front and 275 rear i am not a big fan of it i would rather have 245 in the front

or with new set of wheel's i would run 255 all around

don't get me wrong you can run stagger setup and not have under steering problem at low speed but you will need to be able to tune your spetion and alignment to make ti work proper

how about 315s up front with 335 in the rear? ;)

NashMan 06-23-2010 08:42 AM

how about fuck normal tire's and just run Flintstones steam roller's but made of rubber
