ebay seller trying to charge me PST/GST after i paid full ebay price + shipping?.. So i bought this battery for my laptop off ebay, from "lubattery.com" which is based in richmond i guess, is what it says on it's ebay store page at least the total price was $55 + $15 in shipping, so i hit Buy Now and pay the total price + shipping then today they send me a paypal money request for 7.75 stating GST/PST wtf.. i dont have to pay this shit do I? they should be covering that if they are running an ebay store, its not like I picked up locally, nor does it state that anywhere on their store's page. |
check the bottom of the listing for applicable taxes, a part I just bought off there said OH buyers would be charged tax (but I'm not sure how said taxing would work) |
If there was no mention of sales tax, then all you are required to pay is the list price plus shipping. Just send a message to the seller and 90% of the time, they will remove this extra charge for you. If they refuse, then ask for a refund and leave them a feedback comment. |
It would be helpful if you posted the listing here... If they're in BC they have to charge tax, but it should say in the listing |
As Skinny said, as a company, they are required to charge tax if they're in BC, and you're in BC. However, that also needs to be listed on the item description page. |
here's the auction, no mention of the tax: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...#ht_5976wt_911 And i belive these are the same guys i even specifically emailed if i could purchase through ebay and pickup locally to avoid shipping costs, they said if i did that that in THAT case i would be charged PST/GST, which is why i just sucked it up and paid the $15 instead of driving to richmond which would have cost me about the same paying tax. |
You're not obligated to pay tax, based on that auction page |
Yea I messaged him saying that it is not posted and I believe they are the same ones I emailed before regarding the taxes and local pickup Posted via RS Mobile |
it says taxes will be charged as applicable in the payment details |
yap, 2nd page has it. Most seller put this on the first page. =============== Estimated sales tax. Seller charges sales tax in multiple states. Ask for refund or cancel the transaction if you are not happy. I am sure seller doesn't want to get negative feedback. |
:bullshit::bullshit::bullshit: |
Never saw it on the 2nd page so maybe they added it now, I contacted them and they first replied they would look into it, then an hour later they replied saying "our accounting department sees no reason to pay the tax so you will not have to" funny thing was the battery was already at my house before the issue was even resolved so it seems like they just send the batteries out asap then try to fish for the ppl that will pay the taxes because I could have easilly said nothing in reply and just kept the battery Posted via RS Mobile |
Just cancel the order and leave a neg. Forget the whole thing man, it's not worth it |
i'd also ask for a GST # if someone is trying to charge me tax. if they aint got one, then they're not reporting tax and just pocketing it |
