Toronto has inspectors go to stores weekly to every store to check all stock?

ive had open pepperoni in my fridge for like 1.5 months, i'm still eating it and it's still good, although a little dry lol

how long must have that shit been sitting in a sealed package to mold?

tool001 06-21-2010 04:50 PM

This came up recently becuase of olympics.vch, said they don't have enough inspectors to handle vancouver. In toronto, grocery, corner, rest.don't have a inspection schedule.inspectors randomly inspect sites and post results in the window.places that get conditional pass, as a result of the sign, lose customers. Ie.lowblas that was forced to shut down in TO.I remeber when I was in TO,they shut down 6 chinese rest. In toronto china town in a single day.

Lies... Went to the SFU farmers market last summer and you should see some of the shit they tried to pass off as "fresh" produce.
I can tell you from experience, farmer's markets only sell "local" produce when local is in season, ie june to september, weather permitting. And even then, because of cost of operations, imported veggies from Calif can at times be cheaper than locally grown veggies.

That's gross. I usually buy fresh cut ham and meat and stay away from frozen meats.

Greenstoner 06-22-2010 12:48 PM

how about try buying grocery at TnT ? I see more traffic in TnT supermarket compare to most of the safeway, save-on food...

I would think the more busy a supermarket it , more ferquent they replenish their stock

T&T cuts off old parts of lettuce/cabbage and sells as fresh... ever since that day, I only buy shit that won't go insanely bad from them (VITA lemon tea/snacks)

kingsway by 7-11.. it' on the first page man...

T&T is a bit more honest about it. They have a rack full of old, spoiled produce that they sell "as is" in the corner. I don't even want to look over there although I do imagine the sort of people that would make a purchase from it.

How much of a cheapass do you have to be to buy spoiled food?

SkinnyPupp 06-23-2010 08:01 AM

I've taken so many pictures like that at grocery stores here. I don't even bother anymore, it's so common. Especially green bacon

T&T actually generally has good quality produce at fantastic prices. I don't buy much else there. But I can't complain at all about their fruit and veggies.

And yeah I can't imagine who would buy the rotting crap either. That's sad. :(

jpark 06-23-2010 11:12 AM

t&t fruit and veggie are actually really good quality most of the time, the meat is actually pretty good quality too and cheap
