Imagine the uses!

Dragan Fly's aerial compact camera helicopter:

Perspective Aerials' even larger helicopter for DSLR's!

Bloody hell, I want one! Would love to have one of those for doing video in the southwest deserts. Imagine flying through an arch, over the edge of the Grand Canyon etc. Would be very cool!

*** If I win the Lotto Max tomorrow, I will buy every regular poster in the Photo forum one. That's a promise! ***

Hold on a second I think I'm gonna cut my arm and my leg off for one of these.

I call your helicopter and raise your helicopter with http://ardrone.parrot.com/parrot-ar-drone/en

You control it with your iphone/ipod touch, it has an autopilot system with internal navigation system.

:D

too bad you gotta use their on-board cameras. You probably cant attach your own dslr camera to it. But the thought of autopilot, and using your iphone to control is just awesome!

^That a neat toy, but you're can't really control the camera like the perspective aerials' helicopter.

Payload capacity is 500g?!? what dslr can you load on that?!? a D700 is almost 1KG and an light wide angle lens that I can think of would add at least another 200g at the very least...

I think they need to have something that can lift 3kg to be a commercial success...

And depends on price, isn't it easier/cheaper to rent a motor based RC heli for this kind of job? all you really need is a custom mount that you can attach your camera to. And a good non-battery powered RC heli can lift some good weight. My cousin in Arg had one and we used to use it to grab beers: we stay near the pool and fly the heli to the BBQ house and have someone there to hook some beers/drink up...
