Want to repair bumper scratches and paint chips, need matching spray paint So I have an area on my bumper that I want to repair with paint. About 10cm in diameter. It is scratched and there are paint chips. I have no money to spend on a paint job of the whole bumper. It is a honda civic in silver. So, my options are A. Bring it to Maaco? I heard they are cheap. I just want a spot repair and repaint on that area. B. Do it myself. Buy sandpaper, bondo bumper filler, sealer, primer spray can, clear coat spray can, rubbing compound, and colour matching spray can. If I do the 2nd option, should I bring in my touch up paint and paint code to Lordco or a bodyshop like AK autoworks to get a spray bomb/can? Or they are both the same when it comes to matching paint? C. Do all prep work my self, take off bumper, drop it off to Maaco for spot painting. Would this tutorial be good to follow for option B and C regarding prep work on bumpers? http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars...enance/2763656 Also, would option B be cheaper than option C? |
Option D If it's an older Civic w/ a common colour, post a WTB ad here, CL and on Vancouver Civics for a bumper that's the same colour. |
b if u know what your doing |
silvers going to be hard to match if you do it yourself |
I don't recommend Maaco and I don't recommend doing yourself either unless you know what your doing. Body work may look easy and throwin some bondo and paint at something is easy but making it look better isn't always so easy and the aftermath is gonna cost you more. I got some decent cheap body men at my disposal if you want it done right. |
i say leave it cause rear bumpers get pwned all the time if you park on the streets. |
