It's not always just an image or midlife crisis thing lots of the old guys are done with fuckin around on the street and just wanna drive. They save their screwin around for the track and wide open roads. Just go to the track and check out the demographics at least half of the guys with nice rides there are retirees.(I'm not just referring to the Street Legals D's)

I told them that there was no race, and if there was a race that, I would have been too far ahead to witness the wreck, as it happened in my rearview. They pushed more, but in the end my story never changed. I was in second gear at the time of the wreck and told them that I had a datalog of it all. I didn't, but they let me go without any more questions. I didn't drive my car for a week. Shit was scary!

I've found that too.
I don't need to prove to a stranger that my ride is fast. The funny thing is, I'll drive the old Beaumont and everyone asks me to do a burnout. Do you know how much 295 series Kumhos cost?

:lol

Zyzz 07-06-2010 07:51 PM

I felt the nicer/faster the car you drive stockwise, the less urge you have to go fast (to prove to other people)

Fuck I get that all the time.

Right, like I'm going to do a burnout for some schmoe in the middle of a main street...

shenmecar 07-06-2010 08:58 PM

The fastest you'll be going when you're 70 and driving a sports car will be after you've crashed it by being stupid and you're in an ambulance heading straight to a hospital.

but burnout is part of owning a mustang. love your mustang btw you got any more pictures beside your avatar?

Berzerker 07-06-2010 11:23 PM

Can't believe this made 3 pages haha.

I actually drive under the speed limit for the most part 90% of the time in my civic. I find I drive faster on average in my beater than I do in my fast car.

Berz out.

Qmx323 07-07-2010 12:34 AM

I just hope that when I am old i can drive a nice car, fast or not

DD//M3 07-07-2010 10:34 AM

With age comes knowledge and self preservation.

Street/highway racing is dangerous. Keep it on the track.

There should be some kicking around in past threads.

unit 07-07-2010 11:59 AM

if i was driving an exotic and a guy in a riced out civic gave me 'the nod',
i'd give him 'the laugh'.

AzNightmare 07-07-2010 11:09 PM

Don't take life for granted.
We're not guaranteed to make it there.

The worst part is, that until I swapped in a real motor, I couldn't do a true burnout.
:lol

Even more so, when some kid says "Do a burnout" and I'm in the STi. It doesn't work that way, man!

Tank of high octane - $75
New rear tires - $500
Display of speed ticket - $250

showing off to a complete stranger - $825
priceless, my ass!

:D

Great68 07-08-2010 09:48 AM

Not to say I haven't done the odd burnout, but it's usually rare and in an area that's not busy and with only friends around...

If someone wants to do a burnout on some busy street (Like the old java hut days or good times cruise in days) I will enjoy watching them. The guys with gutless one wheel peelers are always good for a laugh, but once in a while you get someone with a tubbed out big block pushing 800hp do one and then It's almost like you need a cigarette after.

originalhypa 07-09-2010 01:42 PM

Right now I'm one of those 1 tire fire guys. But man, it spins that tire fast!
:lol
An lsd is in the budget, but not this year. There's far too much work to do for the car to see the streets this summer.

On that note, here's some Nelson Race Engines action.

Go locker. I went with a powertrax no-slip, which is similar to a lock-right but has synchronizers so it makes 1/4 of the noise and drives much smoother (It's almost unnoticeable in corners unless you jam on the throttle mid turn).

It's a heck of a lot stronger too (no spider gears to break, and there's no clutches to burn up. I couldn't be happier.

fliptuner 07-09-2010 03:05 PM

Geez, you know you can't post a burnout vid and not get someone stuck on youtube, watching them for half an hour.

This one's been a fav of mine for years:

I've been looking at some of the e-lockers out there, and they seem to be pretty stout. That's still a few months away though. Today's project is figuring out how to scrap the throttle lever, and go with a Lokar cable instead.
