Engine Light on and TC/VSC on...?

I have a 2010 Corolla and I just had a cold-air intake, short shifter kit and lowering springs installed. The next day, the engine light, Traction Control and VSC lights came on.

I am curious whether this is normal for any modification to a car. How should I deal with this? I'm a little skeptical about taking the car back to the Toyota Dealership because I'm not sure if this would affect the warranty.

I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to post, but there is more traffic here for a faster response.

Any advise would much be appreciated.

if you did not change the internals of the engine or run a aftermarket ecu it will not affect the warranty of the car.

take it back to toyota for them to do a quick scan and see what comes up.

It's possible that the intake could of possibly thrown the CEL.

o right if there is like a hose that was connected to the stock airbox or whatever, make sure you have it on the new intake.
i would suggest try putting on the stock intake back on and see what happens.

Oh, okay. Perhaps I'll bring it to some shop and let them try that first.

But what about the VSC and Traction Control light? Could it be the car is not used to a different ride height due to the lowering springs?

Revscene is quite general when it comes to car specifics. Best chance is to find a designated Toyota forum.

Ah, I see.... Toyotanation.com. Good idea.

I've scheduled an appointment this coming Monday already. Hopefully the problems would be corrected.

Thank you RS members so far.

if you didn't install it urself why don't you go back to the shop that install it, i'm sure they shoudl fix it up cheap if not free.

If OP brings his car to toyota and toyota checks the car out and say the CEL is due to the new intake, will toyota void any part of the warranty? Would toyota fix the problem for OP? just curious

VSC is traction control, vehicle skid control.

if i remember right, all toyotas turn off the vsc and abs if any cel code pertains to also the vvti.

if its a cel from the intake, it should just pop up but dont think it will trigger the vsc to turn off.

i would suggest having the code scanned. toyota maf sensors are sensitive to changes, the overall extra volume of air could be triggering the code.
