pics allowed in signature?

i've noticed no one here has pics in their sig (or i just haven't seen any). is this a policy here or...?

thanks in advance

+1 to this. Would love to have a picture, even if it's limited in size like our avatar pics.

i just want to use my sig picture like the one i have on vcc

Iirc, only mods (or Admins, I can't remember which) are allowed pictures in their signatures. I think it's disabled for regular members.

^ i thought after we got the new 6 legged hamsters, we could put up pics?

The policy has less to do with the servers, and more to do with adding clutter to the forum. If everyone has a sig image, it would be a huge mess.

spoon.ek9 07-07-2010 08:22 AM

^ so there is indeed a policy in place? i was just curious because it's the norm in all the other forums i use.

edit: also wanted to add that current sigs (like mine) are just as cluttered with text and quotes. i'd rather use one clean photo :)

There is a policy that users cannot have pictures in their sig.
As Skinny said, this is for aesthetics, not server load.

There is also a policy in place where if a user's text sig is too big, we'll ask them to trim it down, or trim it for them.

Also, text sigs, even if they are the same size as an image sig, are much, much less distracting.
While you're responsible enough to replace your text sig with a simple, clean image; the same could not be said for all users.. hence the policy.

I personally do not like pic sigs cause they clutter up the forum and makes it look horrible, many people dont have the same size pic and it's just a mess.

Would limiting the size be a big problem?

!Tigger 07-07-2010 11:22 PM

you can turn that off if you dont like it.

spoon.ek9 07-08-2010 12:09 PM

just as an example, this is what i would replace my sig with:

http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n...9/banner03.jpg

clean and simple :D

If you really want to see image sigs, you can use this FF Extension:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/618/

It auto translates all image URLs into inline images within the page. You can add the image URL to your sig, and for you, it'll show up as the pic.
