Mercedes C63 AMG DR 520 Edition (2010) news

This is the limited edition Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG DR 520. That's a very long name for a very powerful family saloon.

What makes the C63 AMG DR 520 limited?

Aside from the fact that there will be only 20 built, this car has 513bhp and 480lb ft of torque. That's up 59bhp and 36lb ft compared to the regular C63, thanks to new forged pistons, con-rods and crankshafts.

This brings the 0-62mph time down to 4.1 seconds for the saloon and 4.2 seconds for the estate; both are limited to 187mph. The cars are brought to a halt by an uprated AMG braking system, clutched by red calipers.

Externally the DR's paintwork can be had in either angelic matt white or satanic matt black, with both colours featuring titanium-finished grilles and wheels, as well as an AMG carbonfibre rear wing. Inside the car receives a full AMG leather and Alcantara makeover, complete with contrast red or white stitching.

How much for a glorified C-class?

Mercedes are charging a fiver under £10k for the upgrades, bringing the saloon to a not-insignificant £62,430, with the estate costing £63,680. However you should see this as an end-of-line finale for the C63; Mercedes is in the process of downsizing the 6.2 V8 to a blown 5.5, which will filter its way through the AMG range in the future.

So Hot.
It kinda looks like a Cloudy/Creamy/Milky Piss Yellow. Egg-noggy.

the matte grey looks like crap, the yellow looks gross (I think that's a shade they use for baby clothes...) and the matte green doesn't do it for me either.

If you were one of the 30 Bimmerphiles to snag a 2011 Frozen Gray M3 Coupe last month, expect to fill out another round of paperwork before you take delivery of your new matte gray baby.

BMW is apparently requiring all owners to sign a "maintenance agreement" that insists the M3 is never polished or waxed, ran through an automatic car wash or even strongly rubbed. Additionally, BMW politely asks that you immediately remove bugs, bird droppings, tree sap and fuel spills with a soft sponge, and naturally, dealers are more than willing to sell you appropriate products for maintaining the matte finish.

According to enthusiast site Bimmerfest, BMW explicitly states the M3's warranty won't cover any damage due to owner neglect and it notes that all exterior repairs must be performed by a BMW-authorized shop. What's more, if you don't sign the agreement, no Frozen Grey M3 for you. That's a lot of disclaimers. All of which could be easily solved for less if you simply went down to your local custom vinyl shop and wrapped your (decidedly less expensive) standard M3 in a 3M coating. But how do you put a price on exclusivity?

^ i need to hit up BMW and pick up some of these products that supposedly are specifically made for these types of paint jobs. I still have year old bug juice on my car I can't get off.

Reading about it and/or seeing pictures is one thing, but getting to see it in person? Damn, I'm jealous, SG!

BMW emailed us the guidelines for repairing and refinishing the new 'flat' colors.

Frozen Grey Metallic is just Space Grey Metallic with flat clear applied to it.

Only super cars can pull of the matte black look.
Otherwise it just looks boring and unnatural
