thats from a realllly old video, but this is a new song dubbed over it.

regardless, Mullen is sick

Mizter 07-10-2010 12:38 AM

Oh man this brings back memories from my high school days. Personally I thought Mullen is a better skater than Tony Hawk but I haven't followed the 'sport' in awhile so...I could be really off base right now.

This old video is better than that dubbed music crap..

Different events, man. Mullen is a flatland skater with emphasis on technicality. Tony skated vert and went big. There's nothing overly technical about landing a 900 degree spin, relative to a kickflip underflip. All you need to do is get huuuuge air and spin fast (I'm obviously simplifying what, at the time, was a groundbreaking trick).

They are both highly skilled skaters who led their respective genres of skating. I prefer watching Mullen as I like the intricacies of Mullen's flatland tricks more than the "big"-ness of vert. Likewise, when it comes to snowboarding, Scott Stevens is one of my favourites to watch.

And [kinda] on the topic of wheelchair tricks:

Mullen wasnt the Best skater ever... He was the best at his discipline... I recall he could hardly do many handrail variations (besides darkslides lol) he couldn't touch a bowl or pipe, but he is amazing at flat land. I read a while back he grew up without any obstacles to skate on, and thats how he developed his flat land.

This thread is full of win!

Anybody remember playing tony hawks pro skater 4???

They had similar clips of rodney mullen under his name somewhere in that game. Damn this vid makes me want to be a skater.
