Program Management
• An investor relations director oversees a firm's entire investor relations program. This includes developing an annual department budget, creating presentation materials and managing investor relations staff members.
Creating Reports
• On a consistent basis, an investor relations director drafts and presents reports regarding the financial health of a firm. These reports are for the benefit of both shareholders and the board of directors.
Point of Contact
• As the primary point of contact for people outside the company, the investor relations director fields calls and answers questions from both investors and the media on an individual basis.
Education and Experience
• In order to gain employment as an investor relations director, employers typically require that candidates for the position possess at least a four-year degree in addition to 10 or more years of professional experience.

not trying to piss on the parade, but recruiters in this town are a bunch of pretentious twats, that's why they fit in so well in vancouver

they add very little value (i just went through a year of trying to move from one job to another, ended up finding a great job, in fact, a terrific job/career move, but the amount of BS i went through with recruiters is unbelieveable

Haha I can understand where you are coming from, after all headhunters are on commission so they want to stuff you in the easiest category possible, whether or not it really suits you is another issue. Just an honest approach to everyone's incentives.

An IR post can have people from all walks of life, similar to a Investment Advisor. Typical candidates will have finance experience, brokerage firm exposure, investment product understandings (securities), and a good network of industry contacts.

The biggest incentive in alot of these firms tend to be options as many of these companies are sub $100 million market cap and the potential for them to go up 5x+ is certainly up there for the right deposits and management team.

If I remember correct you're a CA, there's a huge amount of jobs available in the auditing/CFO front in mining you should do quite well = )
