don't care if it's a repost, this thing deserves multiple threads.

top gear said "what's the point?"

nns 07-22-2010 12:31 PM

I think Porsche makes what I believe to be the most indistinguishable line up of any car company. Minus their Panamera, Cayenne, and Carrera GT, the rest of their line up looks about the same from 1 another.

The names don't help: 911, Cayman, GT3, GT, RS, this, that, and the sink.

I think Lamborghini would take a close second, with their SV, Balboni, 640, 650, oh god, numbers....

Mugen EvOlutioN 07-22-2010 12:45 PM

yup

all look the same

except a few

dhari 07-22-2010 12:55 PM

i don't like the exhaust tips. it doesn't really match the car.
the tips from the turbo match the overall look of the car though.

Rich Sandor 07-22-2010 12:59 PM

The first factory ducktail since '73.. and resurrected Fuchs wheels. nice.

The lineup may be indistinguishable, but that is the point: A Porsche is always recognizable as a Porsche.

insomniac 07-22-2010 02:39 PM

it usually takes time for me to like a certain car,
but this took a few seconds.

AVS_Racing 07-22-2010 02:43 PM

and they like to charge you more for less.

8thcivic 07-22-2010 04:03 PM

came in here, expecting something else.................. "good god i love dat ass"

turb0fr3ak 07-22-2010 04:04 PM

Yea, maybe that sounds good on paper. A dump truck will always look like a dump truck, and a dog will always look like a dog. Since when does instant recognition have anything to do with how attractive a car is? Their designs are dated.

I'm just thinking aloud. IMO, Porsche needs a revolution, instead of an evolution in the looks department for their 2 door rockets. That's just me though. I'm sure some will disagree.

flagella 07-22-2010 07:39 PM

Wtf... designs are dated? Those classic lines will never be dated, and I'll drool over it while other cars revolutionize themselves and become uglier each time.

Mugen EvOlutioN 07-22-2010 07:40 PM

perhaps you are the only one who thinks that, round like a first gen TT

meh..

its like white...but it changes colours depending on the surroundings

umpadupa 07-22-2010 09:51 PM

^ really( it changes color depending on surroundings?)

im sry, but the color is killing it for me, i saw it on top gear and silver/white/black will do just fine

donjalapeno 07-22-2010 10:19 PM

hate those tailights....leds are becoming rice

mqr03 07-22-2010 10:31 PM

A porshe is not a porshe without its huge whale tale spoilers.
but that color is awful on a porshe.

VK79 07-22-2010 11:23 PM

Those rims look nice on a 70s 911, but on a 997, somehow it looks out of place. The ducktail and horrid color does not help either.

STFU! if you dont know how to appreciate something, we dont need your useless comments and it ruins the thread. a Porsche will always be recognized easily as a Porsche, no need for an evolution

If porshe re-invented their design like they did the Carrera GT everyone who could afford $150k cars would start buying them guaranteed.
Don't get me wrong I'm still gonna buy a Gt2Rs or GT3 RS because these cars performance is unparalled. J.Clarkson who hated porshes is on the bandwagon because of the GT3 RS
