multiple monitors okay this is probably a dumb question but I can't really find the answer to it on google.... If I have a computer and I install 2 video cards into it and they both have 2xdvi out and 1xhdmi can I have 6 monitors running off of this? Or 4 monitors if I just use the dvi ports? Is it even possible to install 2 video cards? thanks in advance |
yes u can install 2 video card either thru SLI if you are using nvidia or crossfire if you are using ati ~ preferably the same video card =\ and if ur motherboard supports it. but as for output you'll only get a maximum of 4 monitor thru the dvi output. dvi output and hdmi output are different hence u can't use both at the same time. someone correct me if i'm wrong. |
I believe terkan is correct. Most (all?) cards with 2x DVI and 1x HDMI will still only allow 2 monitors max. I believe the exception to this is if the card has 2x DVI or HDMI and 1x Display Port; if a card has that, then it should be able to run 3 monitors, but you need a Display Port compatible monitor, or a Display Port -> hdmi/dvi adapter, which are pricey. You could also try something like tihs: http://www.techspot.com/news/38426-a...efinity-6.html But again, you need the display port adapters.. The sure way would be to run 3 video cards. |
when i asked nxic there was an ati card (for around 300 decent for gaming) that could do 3 moniters. 2 through dvi and 1 through hdmi. |
there's also all the eyefiniti technology lol |
or Nvidia 3d Vision Surround |
i have this setup at work: 1 x pci-e.. 1 x pci vid card.. 4 monitors via vga and dvi... ati pcie and nvidia pci.. |
i use this video card at work to run 4 monitors. http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=35966 The only catch is, it probably won't perform too well for gaming. |
