Well... I currently have no openings in the sales department for lot staff. These are the guys I am directly in charge of and take part in the hiring process.
However, I heard today that our service department promoted one of our service lot guys into the shop and have not replaced him yet.
So I assume we will be looking for a new service lot guy.
If you are interested and know the location of our dealership, I encourage
you to drop in and bring in your resume. |

you should actually be checking out the websites of the said dealerships. most have a "career" link to all open positions. most are even running programs to get resume submissions via the website. and to make it an even playing field, they even make their own employee's resubmit via the site as well if they plan on applying for other positions. Tired of emailing resume and shit to craigslist postings with no reply every single time | Won't be getting a job with that kind of thought.
I had to wait 8 months, of constant emailing, calling, cold-calls before I even got a job. Yet after 8 months, I had 3 interviews in the same week, so when it rains, it pours.
Keep your head up and don't stop applying man. Nobodies going to do it for you.

Obviously you gotta work hard to find a job, but then again if theres someone that can give you a bit of help or connections im sure that it could be much easier. Quote:

Been applying everywhere lately. Unfortunately, I have to settle for less as a lot attendant; I don't mind working my way up though...
It took 3 weeks to finally get something, but I'll keep applying anyways until I get one closer to my needs.

You have to be motivated, submitting one resume a day and hoping people call you is not enough. When I was looking for work, I would send out at least 4 resumes a day, and put on some decent clothes and drop off resumes. The internet has kind of made people lazy in that way. Once I got an interview, the next day I sent an e-mail telling them thank you for meeting with me and I hope they choose me. Employers really like when people do the little extra. |

Are the Automotive Training Centre Sales Courses at all beneficial? Will Dealerships overlook my application if that's the only course I have?
Haven't taken it yet but figured I'd ask the question first before money is wasted. Has anyone on the Forum taken any of their courses? What can I expect? Posted via RS Mobile |

I just took the program at VCC. If you're fresh and know very little about cars, go right ahead.
But do know that it still may be hard to find a job. You're better off just starting at a dealership as a lot attendant and work your way up. That's what I'm doing now, AFTER going to school. Oh well.

i remember having a lot kid before that didnt have his license yet. still helpful, but limited to what they can do.
depending on the manufactuer, some have gone away from the manual gear box. so knowing how to drive standard isnt essential. we see a manual maybe one out of every 20+ cars?

Depends on the dealer I suppose. I assume that Euro dealers short of Mercedes see a lot more manual cars in their high-volume new stock than other makes. Not a whole lot of people order base Corolla or Civics with stick these days.

does anyone know the pay system of being a car salesman in Asia? Here we get 30% of the total profit of the car we sell
It is so slow/dead here being a car salesman so i might consider going over seas to try it out if I can make more $ there due to the heavy traffic you get in Asia
