Sun visor
 

The sun was shining right on the left side of my face earlier so I swung the sun visor around and pulled out the extention piece to block it. Much better - my face wasn't cooking and the sun wasn't in my eyes, but it did present one problem - I couldn't see anything to the left of me above the beltline of the car next to me.

Is positioning my sun visor in such a way illegal?

I wouldn't think so,because they are designed to be used to block the drivers view through the windshield,which is a far more important view IMO.

This is a consideration..

Windshields and windows
7.05 (1) No person shall drive or operate on a highway a motor vehicle the windshield or any window of which is in such condition that the vision of the driver is impaired.

Windshield stickers
(2) No person shall drive or operate a vehicle on a highway while his view of the highway or of any intersecting highway is unduly obstructed by any windshield sticker, sign, poster or other thing or material placed over or affixed to the windshield or any window of the vehicle.

as long as you still had the passenger side and the rear-view mirror unobstructed, i don't think anyone will have issue with that

Requirements for moving vehicle

195 (1) A person must not cause a vehicle to move on a highway if

(a) the control of the driver over the driving mechanism of the vehicle, or

(b) the view of the driver to the front or sides of the vehicle is obstructed.

It's interesting that the car has a sun visor that can be configured in an illegal way.

Oh well, my quest for finding something to stop me getting sunburned every time I drive continues.

If your windows are up it will take a very long time to get a burn considering UVB light is mostly blocked by glass. UVA will still come through and is damaging as well but does not cause burns generally. There is also the option of you wearing sunscreen.

If i have sun coming through the side window i will continue to use the visor there, i move it once the sun is no longer there or in the shade. I think it is safer to not be blinded by it, and i really can not see any officer pulling you over for using the visor correctly.

There's enough cancer as it is in my family history, pretty much any sun is too much for me. It's not always practical to apply sunscreen several times a day, every day.

Maybe I'll try smearing sunscreen all over my window.

Try driving at night instead. You'll find less traffic.. makes for better traffic flow.

Is that a real suggestion?
