Let's just say, modding my car when I was younger has taught me a valuable lesson in life. :D

keep in mind, all of the previous options i mentioned can fit into any EF (88-91), EG (92-95) or EK (96-00) civics. that's true for all hatchbacks, coupes and sedans. the EF is the lightest of those three generations.

Save up, sell it, buy something better.

Just going to throw this out there since someone else was asking for a shell. If you'were planning on doing a motor swap anyways, it's a good option before I replace it with another D15 and sell it as a bone stock, good runner, with a clean body.

The plan was to replace the timing belt, waterpump, cam seals and adjust the timing when the motor goes in (all this with labour from a Honda Tech is going to cost about $500, with new fluids) and sell it for $2200 firm.

If you want it as is, the price is $1500 firm. You can have the spare motor (that has a good tranny bolted to it) to recoupe some funds (if you were planning on a d16 or B swap anyways). It's completely driveable, right now.

You cant go wrong with a B18c5. Not cheap but best bang for your buck.

I was actually in the EXACT same position as you about four months ago.

I had a 95 sedan LX, had the same motor (d15b7... super lame) and was AUTO.
I desperately wanted to swap and convert it since the body had no rust and I had spent a ton of time on cosmetic mods and the sound system and didn't want to lose it all.

If you wanted to swap in a d16z6 or y8 motor, it would run you ~$1500 after all is said and done. That's NOT INCLUDING THE CONVERSION. To convert it would cost you another ~$1300 and if you're doing this route, take it to a reputable shop. A friend of mine converted his teg and the shop went out of business and he had a ton of issues.

I weighed my options and decided to bite the bullet and sell my first car and get a better platform (5spd, better base motor etc.) since it would be so much less to worry about and much cheaper in the end. Just remember that there are TONS of civics out there so there is no shortage of right cars for you :rofl:

I am MUCH happier with my choice and new car, but again it is all up to you.
