Microsoft Security Essentials.
http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

I used to use AVG, and before that Avast. No reason for leaving either of those two aside from the Microsoft one getting rid of the little message stating that my computer is not protected by an antivirus.

+1 for MSE

I used Avira before that but I preferred MSE more.

Another + for MSE and malware bytes.

AVG is good at letting you know you have a virus, but pretty useless in actually removing it. At least in my experience.

Whereas malware bytes is more often able to actually clean the infections out.

Shaw uses a program called F Secure. It is apparently not bad, but if it's free the price is right.

Shaw Secure is meh ... Way too heavy and doesn't do a particularly good job of preventing viruses from getting on your computer.

Because Malware Bytes picks up more spyware and adware, while MSE is more for viruses and trojans. Just keep MSE running, and do a MB scan occasionally.

I think I might have posted this link before but if you want to see some independent testing comparisons, check out this site:

http://www.av-comparatives.org/compa...ews/main-tests

It seems that MSE does pretty well in the tests. I use Avira (free) on my desktop and MSE on my laptop. Both are pretty good though Avira seems to show a lot of false positives.
