if your items got seized at the border

For example if I bought smokes from the states and it was seized at the border, do they take it away?

Cause I heard smokes, you have to actually go to the states for at least 3 days in order to bring it back.

Aside from that if they don't let you bring something back, what do they do with it?

umm they wouldn't just seize it, if you are a canadian returning to Canada before the exemption amount/time they just TAX TAX TAX and DUTY your ass on smokes/booze.
If you didn't claim it and they caught you with it, you get blacklisted, they take it away from you and still fine you

Depends on the officer. I was caught with uncliamed cigarettes and liquor. I was let go with a warning and I got to keep them.

Don't lie to the CBSA dude, they can fuck you over big time.

They'll charge you a lot of duty and the next time you cross you will definitely get searched. If it's not claimed, they have the authority to confiscate it... then I don't know what happens from there. Maybe the officers split it between each other? LOL.

So whoever you end up travelling with to the states next time will have to also get searched, so you're making your friends/family pay the price too if they travel with you.

There were a few times when I brought back a couple beers for a day trip. When they asked me if I had any alcohol in my car I told them the truth and they didn't tax me. It's all up to the officer, to see if they'll give you a grace or not. If they told me I couldn't bring it in I would've drank it in front of them, and had my lady friend drive back home or to the closest place we could stop to change back.

lying to cbsa to avoid tax is a bad idea. they will rape you if you get caught. i saw a lexus is-f that was seized because the owner tried to lie about how much he paid for it and got busted!

the difference of US and Canadian customs
- CDN customs just wants to tax your ass
- US customs just concerned abt terrorist/shady ppl

i've never had a hard time going thru US but canadian customs, they give me a hard time coming back

yeah man, CBSA is pretty power tripping sometimes...

can't blame them... crazy ass 5-stage testing process just to get in would make anyone a dickface.
