Black Rims + Red Stripe This has been nagging at me for a while. Every so often, I see a car drive by with black rims with a red stripe like this: http://www.rimstyle.com/data/product...b/xlarge/1.jpg I'm wondering why these are so popular? Are they copies of a legit big brand name? Or just some sort of style that has caught on. I really like the looks of rims like this, but I really hate the idea of "fake" or "cheap knockoff" imitations. Can't stand fake carbon fiber at all. I'm sure you guys have the answer, so your enlightenment would be much appreciated! |

it's called a "time attack" stripe a lot of Volks have these and come like that from the factory with some of their special edition wheels, so no there's nothing "fake" about it. Although I have noticed a trend where a lot of cheap Ebay style wheels have added this for a sporty look. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y14...onte37copy.jpg |

So called time attack rims. |

So this is more of a general style thing? Not like emulating any specific high end brand? I'm considering doing my bike rims in red reflective tape, for both added safety and partially for the style (all red rims would look pretty gross). But if it's "toolish" like putting Type R on your corolla, or GTR on your mustang, then I'm going to stay way the hell clear. thanks again :) |
