Construction on Knight and King Ed

Going northbound on knight at king ed, theres a MASSIVE dip in the road
stay away...the drop is approximately curb height. and once ure in it, u have to go up another complete half foot to get out.

basically, it's like dropping off a curb, and driving straight back up onto it.
GL out there guys

Ah. Knight and King Ed. The $100,000 screwup. Two pipes that don't fit together. Some engineer screwed THAT one up.

jjson 08-08-2010 09:55 PM

same happening on 41st/cambie to approx fraser. not sure how much west of cambie it goes to cuz i was heading east going back home last night

someone dun goofed

What makes you think city engineers have to deal with stuff like getting fired?

Also, omg, thanks for the warning.
Dropping off a curb in a scooter isn't good times.
Doing it at speeds would probably end up with me hurt and lying on the floor.

I wonder if there are any sort of legal limits on what the minimum conditions are for a "construction driving lane".

Source?

I'm not surprised. Having worked in contruction, it's pretty common for parts to be substituted without the general contractor being notified.

RabidRat 08-09-2010 03:14 AM

yeah what exactly is going on down there, and on 41st?

hchang 08-09-2010 11:24 AM

That drop was horrible.

Stay far far away guys. Especially during heavy traffic, you'll be stuck there for a while waiting for everybody to slowly drive over that LOL.

VK79 08-09-2010 11:51 AM

God dammit went for my regular Sunday Dim Sum yesterday and did not notice it till too late, might have messed up the suspension on the ES, don't even dare to imagine what would have happened if it was the lowered sti. Its very stealthy, looks no more than a small bump but its actually a pretty huge drop as the OP mentioned. Avoid at ALL COST!

hchang 08-09-2010 12:16 PM

How did you not notice it?

There was a sign there telling you there was a bump...

Inside sources.
Basically, there was a SNAFU and the two pipes that they replaced/were reconnecting didn't align/have the proper fit. Gap + size, etc. were WAAAAAAAY off. As far as the contractor, the city is the "contractor" in this case. No third party involved on this one, with the possible exception of the "traffic control services".

RabidRat 08-09-2010 01:44 PM

So who took the blame?

raygunpk 08-09-2010 01:46 PM

Kevin Bieksa.
